Nigerians are generally mischievous people or how else can one describe a situation where they will unanimously call for a debate between renowned man of the word, the eloquent and professor of literature, Nobel Laureate winner, renowned playwright, writer par excellence, old pirate,animate dictionary, walking encyclopedia and grammarian extraordinaire versus First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, who is, well, Dame Patience Jonathan? Nigerians have even gone ahead to petition Channels Television, them of the ‘My Oga at the Top’ saga, to organize the debate. The call came on the heels of the exchange of words between the Prof who actually threw the first salvo by accusing the First Lady and her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan of being the brains behind the crisis in Rivers State, while the First Lady fired back, calling Soyinka an “embarrassment’’ for attributing the crisis rocking the state to her and her husband. Will we see the mother of all debate soon? And who will win if I may ask? As for me, I can’t wait.
