For assaulting officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug
Administration and Control, a baker, Afolabi Nurudeen, has been convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, on Friday.
Nurudeen assaulted four NAFDAC officials led by an Assistant Director, Mrs. Yedunni Adenuga, in May 2011, when they were on an inspection of his bakery in Isale Agbara area of Osogbo.
The officials caught workers at the bakery using a prohibited substance, potassium bromate, to bake bread.
When he was challenged, Nurudeen beat up Adenuga and also attacked the police officer attached to the group on the inspection exercise.
Justice Babs Kuewumi found the baker guilty on the charges of assault and obstructing NAFDAC officials from performing their duties.
The judge subsequently sentenced Nurudeen to a year imprisonment with an option of N4,000 fine.
