Super Eagles midfielder Babatunde Michael will not be able to continue with the Brazil 2014 World Cup following the injury he sustained in Wednesday’s match against Argentina in Porto Alegre.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi said after the game won by Argentina 3-2, “I am not sure Babatunde will be able to continue with the World Cup; that I can confirm here immediately. The other details we will get as time goes on but he hurt his ankle and will have to undergo surgery immediately to get back on the pitch again. It is so sad to us but that is just the situation.”
The player was replaced in the 88th minute by Okechukwu Uchebo.
Meanwhile, One of the team’s defenders, Godfrey Obaobona, who also sustained an ankle injury during the match against Iran, has yet to return to action. Elderson Echie
