The opposition mega alliance, All Progressives Congress, APC, announced on Tuesday that it has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for registration as a political party thereby putting an end to months of political uncertainty.Tom Ikimi, a leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, one of the merging parties forming the APC, made this known to reporters earlier today in Abuja.Ikimi said the application was made to INEC last week Friday and was signed by nine people as stipulated by the electoral law.The ACN chieftain listed the nine people as the National Chairmen, Secretaries, and Treasurers of the three merging parties, the ACN, CPC, and the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP.The APC, once registered, will be a major opposition block in Nigeria’s political space that has since the return to Democracy in 1999, been dominated by the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP
